Excuses Excuses!
There are many ways in which we tend to avoid working out every now and then. Here are some of the common excuses and how we get away with it..
1. Stuck at work?
This is one of the most common excuses. “I spend all my day at work, can’t really make it to the workout today” – heard this before? Of course, you have. You might have used this many times yourself. The best workaround for this is to just do a quick short high intensity workout to get your metabolism up and running through the day. A short 45 minutes session of spinning will help burn close to 500 calories and get your metabolism kick started for the rest of the day. (The mid-day snacks you had in the office are now no longer in your body)
2. Busy Parent??
The next common excuse, I have no time for myself as I am occupied nonstop with my kids. The work around for this is quite simple; whether you are a home maker or a working mom, try to incorporate little circuits when you are with your kids. Try chasing a toddler across the house for 20 minutes, phew!! Best part is, the kids get active at the same time as you do.
3. Too tired!
Muscles still aching from your previous day workout? You might think resting a bit would help you recover, but actually, a low intensity exercise helps to relax the muscles and makes you feel better by increasing your energy levels. Just don’t push too hard. Spinning fits the bill easily as the intensity of the workout is decided by you!
4. Too many strong people around!
This is an excuse most commonly heard among gym members. You see bulky people in the gym and either get motivated by them or get scared by them and their grunts whilst lifting weights. The workaround for this is to find a group cardio activity, where every one’s levels differs and you would be able to find people with similar capacity and strength like you and won’t feel left behind. Spinning, Pilates and Yoga are some examples of a low impact activity!
5. Too hard to decide
Hey man, why don’t you come join Zumba with me? No, come to the Gym instead! Gyms are boring, come let’s do some functional fitness workouts. Tired of hearing this from your friends all the time??
