"45 mins out of your daily 1440 mins, that’s all you need in your fight against the perils of a sedentary lifestyle. As a professional working in the financial space and stress that came with it, I found it very difficult to set a routine that included a daily workout. Constant traveling made it worse since food habits would have to be compromised, and all that resulted in fat gain. Gyms were massively uninspiring and disenchanting. My memberships would go to waste. All that changed when I was introduced to spinning at PedalBeat. I won’t describe the health benefits of spinning since that can easily be googled. However, I can talk about 3 specific benefits about spinning at PedalBeat:
1) the fitness tracker that tracks your heartrate, calories count, and intensity of workout, all of which is unique to PedalBeat’s spinning model. As a numbers and math person, I can tell you, this tracker works like magic! Where else have you been able to measure these indicators so accurately, watch live performance of the heart with every single movement of the body, and use the indicators to decide daily targets? We even get an email after every session that contains a graphic representation of the heart rate during the 45 mins. How’s that for serious fitness goals?!
2) the camaraderie with fellow spinners. It’s amazing how an HIIT fitness class has brought together so many strangers, all with a common goal, and made friends of them. And I am not talking about gym aunties that squat down during or after workout exchanging diet khakras and gossip. The friends I have made at PB are serious about fitness and motivate each other to show up for class. Sometimes, I go down to burn the odd 500 Cals, just because someone from my green team said they are going asking who else is joining them. Oh, on a separate note, green team is the best! Anyway, these are some of the nicest bunch of people you will come across. Coming from Bombay and not belonging to any of the local social groups, I see my fellow spinners as a gift.
3) the trainers. And dear god do we have the best of them. These guys aren’t your run-of-the-mill gym trainers, tailing you around and forcing new exercises upon you daily. No offence to them, I know they’re just doing their job, but I am personally not a fan of that strategy. If anything, it puts me off. These guys are all about fitness, they cycle around the city, participate in cycling tournaments, run alternate careers like photography, and other functional workout instructing. And ladies, this one is especially for you, they don’t gawk, or make suggestive remarks! I know it doesn’t happen to all women, but surely to many. These guys are professional, dignified and focused, and actually care about your fitness. You can hear them giving free diet advise, what bikes to buy, new spots to go cycling to, and what not. If you know the format of a spinning class, you’ll know how important the music selection is, and boy do these instructors have a great taste in music! Every class is so much fun and ends in this burst of endorphins, you almost forget all the preparation and structuring these guys put into it before each class.
So that’s my 2 cents on spinning at Pedalbeat 🙂"
